BULOG Moves Quickly to Distribute Aid to Affected Residents in NTT

The government, through Perum BULOG, has moved quickly to respond to the earthquake that struck several areas of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) by distributing aid to affected communities. The aid prepared consists of rice and cooking oil to help meet the food needs of residents in emergency conditions.

As part of the rapid response, each earthquake-affected district will receive 10 tonnes of rice and 1,000 litres of cooking oil. The distribution of aid will be carried out in stages in cooperation with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), taking into account conditions and the needs of communities in each affected area.

In the initial phase, BULOG distributed 1 tonne of rice to Manggarai Regency and 500 kilograms to Nagekeo Regency on Saturday (15/8). The aid is an initial step to ensure that affected communities can immediately obtain food support.

President Director of Perum BULOG, retired Lieutenant General Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, affirmed BULOG’s readiness to move quickly in supporting the government in handling the impact of the disaster.

“BULOG is ready to move quickly to help the government and communities affected by the disaster in NTT. We will distribute rice and cooking oil aid in stages according to needs and conditions on the ground. Most importantly, affected communities can immediately feel the government’s presence and gain access to food needs,” he said in a written statement on Sunday (16/8/2026).

BULOG will continue to coordinate with regional governments and relevant parties to accelerate the distribution of aid to other affected areas. The distribution process will be carried out in stages, taking into account the accessibility of the areas, the condition of the communities, and developments in the post-disaster situation.

BULOG also confirmed the readiness of stock and distribution networks in the NTT region to support the smooth distribution of food aid. Coordination with regional governments will continue to be strengthened so that aid can be received by communities in need accurately and in accordance with conditions on the ground.

This rapid action is a manifestation of the government’s commitment, together with BULOG, to be present among the community, particularly in emergency situations caused by disasters, while ensuring that the community’s food needs remain met.

The government and BULOG will continue to monitor developments in the affected areas and take necessary measures to support recovery and the fulfilment of the community’s basic needs.
