Perum Bulog’s Malang branch launched the distribution of food assistance ahead of Eid 2026 in Wonokoyo Ward, Kedungkandang District, Malang City, East Java. The food assistance, consisting of rice and cooking oil, is allocated for February-March 2026.

“This food assistance programme is the government’s effort to maintain community food security while helping to alleviate the burden of staple needs,” said the Head of Bulog Malang Branch, M. Nurjuliansyah Rachman, on Tuesday (17/3).

He revealed that the number of food assistance recipients for the February-March 2026 allocation has increased compared to the previous period.

For the Bulog Malang operational area, the quota has risen from 332,665 food assistance recipients (PBP) in 2025 to 623,725 PBP in 2026, an increase of around 87.27%.

The increase in recipients, he continued, has occurred across all areas within Bulog Malang’s operational region. In Malang City, the number of recipients has grown from 23,381 PBP to 57,715 PBP, a rise of about 146.42%.

According to Nurjuliansyah, specifically in Malang City, there are 57,715 PBP distributed across five districts. The breakdown is as follows: Sukun District with 15,150 PBP, Kedungkandang District with 14,313 PBP, Blimbing District with 12,225 PBP, Lowokwaru District with 9,466 PBP, and Klojen District with 6,561 PBP.

“For Malang City, the total food assistance recipients number 57,715 PBP spread across five districts,” he emphasised.

The distribution in Wonokoyo Ward, Kedungkandang District, covers 494 PBP. The assistance consists of 9,880 kilograms of rice and 1,976 litres of cooking oil for the February and March 2026 allocations.

“Overall, for the Bulog Malang operational area in the February-March 2026 allocation, the number of recipients reaches 623,725 PBP. The allocated assistance totals 12,474,500 kilograms of rice and 2,494,900 litres of cooking oil,” he explained.

The Mayor of Malang, Wahyu Hidayat, appreciated the food assistance distribution, deeming it highly beneficial for the community in meeting staple needs. The Malang City Government fully supports the central government’s food assistance programme distributed through Bulog.

“This assistance greatly helps the community, particularly in maintaining purchasing power and ensuring food needs remain fulfilled,” he stated.

Wahyu emphasised that the local government will continue to monitor the distribution to ensure it reaches the intended targets. Coordination with wards and districts is conducted so that the assistance is received by those who truly need it.
