Perum Bulog Malang Branch, East Java, has distributed 1,154 tonnes of rice and 230,000 litres of cooking oil to the residents of Malang City. “This distribution of food aid is a tangible manifestation of the state’s presence through Bulog in assisting the community,” affirmed Malang Bulog Branch Manager M. Nurjuliansyah Rachman on Tuesday (9/6). He explained that Bulog, together with the Malang City Government, continues to strengthen synergy in maintaining food security, including helping the community meet their basic needs through the distribution of food aid. “We ensure that the rice distributed meets the established quality standards so that it is fit and safe for consumption. Bulog will continue to maintain stock availability and smooth distribution so that the benefits of this programme can be felt optimally by the community,” he said. This programme, he continued, is a form of the government’s commitment to maintaining the public’s purchasing power while ensuring staple food needs remain available and affordable. In this context, Bulog constantly strives to provide quality food for the community. “Adequate, quality and affordable food is the foundation of community welfare. Therefore, Bulog will continue to be present as a government partner in maintaining food security and supporting a better life for the community,” he added. A number of food aid beneficiaries stated they were greatly assisted. Suryani, 50, a resident of Blimbing Village, acknowledged the quality of the food aid rice was good. “Alhamdulillah, the rice we received is of good quality, white, and delicious when cooked. This aid really helps our family because it can reduce expenses for buying basic necessities so the money can be used for other needs,” she said. Similarly, another beneficiary, Misiadi, 61, a resident of Bunulrejo Village, conveyed that the food aid programme has a positive impact on his family’s economic condition. “This rice and cooking oil aid is very meaningful to us. Aside from the good quality, this assistance helps ease the burden of household expenditure. We feel helped, especially amidst continuously rising daily needs,” he said. Through this food aid programme, it is hoped that it will continue to provide benefits for the community while strengthening regional food security. Bulog Malang together with the Malang City Government is committed to continuing to ensure every assistance is distributed right on target, in the right amount, and on time to support community welfare.
