BULOG Makes History as Rice Stock Surpasses 5 Million Tonnes
Perum BULOG has once again achieved a historic milestone in managing the Government’s Food Reserve (CPP). For the first time in history, the rice stock managed by BULOG has surpassed 5 million tonnes, marking a significant step in bolstering national food resilience.
BULOG’s President Director, Lieutenant General TNI (Ret.) Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, while accompanying Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman on an inspection visit to the BULOG Karawang Branch Filial Warehouse, stated that this success is more than just a number; it is tangible evidence of the state’s presence in guaranteeing food availability for all citizens.
“Alhamdulillah, as of this morning, Thursday, 23 April 2026, the rice stock in BULOG warehouses has reached 5,000,198 tonnes. This achievement of 5 million tonnes embodies BULOG’s commitment to maintaining the stability of rice supply and prices. It also serves as a strong foundation to face future challenges while ensuring that the public continues to have sufficient and affordable access to food,” he said in a written statement on Thursday (23/4/2026).
Furthermore, Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman, who directly observed the fully stocked piles of rice at the BULOG Karawang Filial Warehouse during his inspection, expressed his appreciation to Perum BULOG.
“Thank you, Mr. President Director of BULOG and his team, for working hard to ensure that the government’s rice reserve stock reaches 5 million tonnes this morning,” said Andi.
This achievement is the result of solid collective efforts, ranging from optimising the absorption of domestic farmers’ paddy/rice, strengthening cross-sectoral coordination, to support from increasingly extensive and modern warehousing infrastructure.
Currently, BULOG is supported by a network of more than 1,500 owned warehouses and over 1,200 leased partner warehouses spread across Indonesia to ensure that stocks are stored safely and ready for even distribution.
With strong reserves, BULOG not only acts as a stabiliser but also as the main driver in the national food ecosystem. This stock serves as a strategic instrument to dampen price fluctuations, anticipate emergency conditions, and support government programmes related to food assistance.
Moreover, this achievement provides new energy for all BULOG personnel to continue improving performance and strengthening their strategic role in realising national food self-sufficiency. The spirit of collaboration with farmers, local governments, and all stakeholders will continue to be maintained and enhanced.
BULOG is optimistic that with this increasingly solid foundation, efforts towards food self-sufficiency and national food sovereignty can be realised sustainably.
