JAKARTA — Rice availability through the period after Eid Al-Fitr in Jember Regency, East Java is assured to be in a safe condition to meet public needs. Perum Bulog’s Jember branch has recorded rice reserves in its warehouse reaching 90,000 tonnes ahead of the 2026 Eid Al-Fitr period.

These stocks originate from grain absorption from farmers conducted since the beginning of the year. This effort is part of the government’s step to maintain food supply whilst stabilising rice prices at the consumer level.

Ade Saputra, head of Perum Bulog’s Jember branch, stated that grain procurement from farmers has been ongoing since January 2026.

“We have been conducting grain procurement at the farmer level from early January until now totalling 87,000 tonnes, or equivalent to approximately 44,500 tonnes of rice,” Ade said on Monday (16 March 2026).

Rice reserves stored in Bulog Jember’s warehouse have reached 90,000 tonnes. These stocks are in the form of ready-to-distribute rice that can be directly distributed to the market.

Rice from the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation programme (SPHP) continues to be distributed by Bulog through various programmes to maintain price stability among the public.

Distribution is carried out through the Cheap Food Movement (GPM), affordable markets, and collaboration with the military, police, and the Jember Regency Food Security Agency.

“On average, we can distribute 100 to 150 tonnes daily for subsidised rice from the SPHP,” Ade explained.

According to him, coordination with the local government continues to be conducted to maintain food price stability whilst controlling inflation in Jember Regency.

“The rice stock in Bulog’s warehouse is very secure, so there should be no concerns,” Ade said.

Since January 2026, Bulog has distributed cooking oil in large quantities to the public. Currently, the remaining stock in the warehouse is still available.

“The cooking oil currently in Bulog remains at 41 tonnes from the total we have distributed since January,” he stated.

He added that additional cooking oil supplies will arrive to strengthen reserves in the Jember region ahead of Eid Al-Fitr.
