Bulog Jakarta Banten Takes Steps to Ensure Food Supply Security
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Bulog’s Jakarta and Banten branches are visiting markets and randomly monitoring several traditional markets in Jakarta to ensure that food stocks remain under control during Ramadan 1447 Hijriah.
“The monitoring is being carried out as an effort to realise our commitment to maintaining national food security,” said the Head of Bulog’s Jakarta and Banten branches, Taufan Akib, in Jakarta on Wednesday.
He said that this monitoring aims to provide a sense of security to the public in meeting their basic needs during national religious holidays.
He affirmed that his party is always present among the community to ensure that food commodities such as rice and oil can be easily accessed by the public.
“We would like to inform you that the stock in the warehouses of the Jakarta and Banten branches is in a safe condition,” he said.
He said that the distribution of food commodities, both rice and cooking oil, would be increased to anticipate increased demand during Ramadan and leading up to Eid al-Fitr.
In addition to monitoring prices, he added, his party also checks the quality of products, the availability of stock at traders, and examines the smooth distribution from warehouses to points of sale.
He is also intensifying synergy with the Regional Government, the Task Force for Price, Security and Food Quality Violations, and related agencies to prevent potential price speculation and hoarding.
“This effort is expected to maintain price stability while creating a conducive market condition,” he said.
