Bulog finalises 88 locations for post-harvest infrastructure projects
Bulog President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani stated that 12 remaining sites are still being finalized to meet the overall national target.
“We have cleared 88 sites and are holding a technical meeting to finalize the remaining 12 locations,” Ramdhani said in Jakarta on Monday.
The discussions aim to ensure all locations meet administrative readiness and development requirements to strengthen national food security.
Infrastructure development is being carried out using a regional typology based approach to align with the specific commodity potential of each area.
“Post harvest infrastructure development is tailored to the regional typology,” Ramdhani said after a coordination meeting.
He explained that island regions like Natuna, which lack agricultural land, development is focused on warehouses for distribution.
Meanwhile, in rice production centers like Grobogan, development includes additional warehouses, dryers, rice milling units (RMUs), and packaging facilities.
In corn producing regions such as Bima, West Nusa Tenggara, the development will include specialized corn husking machines and drying facilities.
“If a region cannot support food crops, for example on a small island like North Maluku, we will likely focus only on building warehouses to support the local supply chain,” he added.
The total plan includes 108 units across 92 districts consisting of 94 warehouses along with six grain silos and eight corn silos.
The project is awaiting final approval from the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs and technical input from the Ministry of Agriculture and Ministry of Public Works.
Technical considerations are necessary to ensure that infrastructure specifications meet regional needs and avoid errors during the construction phase.
“We requested technical considerations from our colleagues at the Public Works Department regarding specifications to ensure accuracy,” Ramdhani explained.
This initiative is part of a broader government effort to increase the efficiency of agricultural product handling and maintain supply stability.
