BULOG Ensures SPHP Rice Remains Affordable for the Public
The President Director of Perum BULOG, retired Lieutenant General Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, emphasised that the price of medium-grade SPHP rice in all regions currently remains below the Maximum Retail Price (HET) set by the government.
“BULOG continues to ensure that the public has access to essential food staples at fair and affordable prices. The distribution of SPHP rice is being carried out extensively through traditional markets, Rumah Pangan Kita (RPK), cooperatives, and the Cheap Food Movement in various regions,” he stated in a written release on Monday (18/05/2026).
The SPHP programme serves as a government instrument to maintain national rice price stability and suppress market volatility. Through the National Food Agency, the government and BULOG are working to strengthen distribution to ensure supply is evenly available across all Indonesian regions.
“As of today, BULOG’s distribution of SPHP rice has reached 240,000 tonnes across various regions in Indonesia. This distribution continues to be optimised to maintain public purchasing power and ensure that government food reserves are utilised effectively for price stabilisation,” he added.
Furthermore, BULOG continues to coordinate with local governments, the Food Task Force, distributors, and business actors to ensure the smooth distribution of SPHP rice and to keep consumer-level prices under control. Through these measures, BULOG reaffirms its commitment as the government’s food operator in maintaining the availability, affordability, and price stability of food to support national food security.
