Bulog Ensures Safe Rice Stocks Ahead of Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr Celebrations
Perum Bulog Bali has ensured rice stocks are adequate ahead of the Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr celebrations. Muhammad Anwar, Bulog regional director for Bali, stated that current rice stocks available in Bali have reached 15,000 tonnes.
“With the assumption that over the next 10 days requirements will not exceed this amount, but for monthly needs at an average of 6,000 tonnes per month, food security stocks can last for two and a half to three months,” said Anwar when met in Denpasar on Tuesday, 10 March 2026.
According to Anwar, with this level of availability, the rice requirements of the community are assured to be met for several months ahead. He estimated that average rice demand in Bali reaches approximately 6,000 tonnes per month.
Anwar also calculated that if absorption is carried out every month, then average food availability per day could reach approximately 60,000 tonnes.
“So if we absorb over one month, then roughly 1,800 tonnes we will absorb, God willing, hopefully this absorption activity supports stock availability,” Anwar explained.
He also urged the public not to panic when purchasing foodstuffs ahead of Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr celebrations. According to him, food availability in Bali is in a safe condition.
“There should be no panic buying because our stocks are safe, our rice stocks are safe. Bulog itself not only manages rice, but Bulog also manages cooking oil, and we distribute these,” he stressed.
