BULOG Ensures Rice Availability and Food Distribution Remain Secure in NTT
Perum BULOG has confirmed that rice availability and the smooth distribution of food in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) remain secure to meet public needs and support various government assignments. To date, 150 tonnes of rice have been unloaded at Labuan Bajo Port.
This was carried out through direct monitoring of the national rice mobilisation (Movenas) unloading process at Labuan Bajo Port. The monitoring was conducted to ensure the loading and unloading process runs smoothly, while maintaining rice quality before it is subsequently distributed according to needs in the field.
Perum BULOG Director of Operations Andi Afdal, together with Director of Marketing Rahmanto Amin Jatmiko, as well as relevant officials comprising the Head of the Logistics Management Division, Head of General Affairs Division, Head of Procurement and Food Management Division, and the Head of BULOG Ruteng Branch, also conducted a direct inspection at the site.
Director of Operations Andi Afdal said the monitoring was carried out as part of efforts to ensure rice mobilisation and distribution run smoothly so that the needs of communities in NTT can continue to be met.
“We are ensuring the rice mobilisation and unloading process runs well. The incoming rice will be managed and distributed according to needs, so that food availability for communities in NTT remains secure,” Andi said in a written statement on Saturday (22/8/2026).
Andi added that the available rice stocks will be optimised to support various community food needs and government assignments, including Food Assistance, handling communities affected by natural disasters, and the implementation of the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation programme (SPHP).
Meanwhile, Director of Marketing Rahmanto Amin Jatmiko emphasised that the agency continues to ensure the smooth distribution of food to areas in need.
“We continue to coordinate and monitor in the field so that available rice can be distributed promptly according to needs. In disaster conditions, distribution is certainly one of the main concerns so that food assistance can be received by communities quickly and accurately,” Rahmanto said.
To strengthen food availability in the NTT region, BULOG has confirmed that current rice stocks have reached approximately 35,000 tonnes.
In addition, BULOG has also prepared additional stocks of around 40,000 tonnes that will be mobilised in stages from several regions, including West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), South Sulawesi, and East Java.
The stock reinforcement is an anticipatory measure by BULOG to maintain supply adequacy while providing flexibility in meeting various community food needs and government assignments according to developments in field conditions.
Previously, President Director of Perum BULOG, retired Lieutenant General Dr Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, had stated that the agency would strengthen rice availability in NTT through additional supplies mobilised from several regions.
In supporting disaster response in NTT, BULOG also continues to coordinate with regional governments and relevant parties to ensure food assistance can be distributed quickly, accurately targeted, and in accordance with the needs of affected communities.
Previously, on Wednesday (19/8), Minister of Agriculture and Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Andi Amran Sulaiman, together with the BULOG President Director, directly inspected the condition of communities and the distribution of food assistance to those affected by the Flores earthquake in Reok District, Manggarai Regency.
Based on data as of 19 August 2026, BULOG has realised the distribution of 207 tonnes of Government Rice Reserve (CBP) and 6,000 litres of cooking oil to support disaster response in several areas of NTT.
BULOG will continue to monitor conditions in the region and community needs, as well as strengthen coordination with regional governments, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Regional Disaster Management Agencies (BPBD), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), and other relevant parties.
Through stock reinforcement, food mobilisation, and distribution optimisation, BULOG ensures that the rice needs of NTT communities remain met and is ready to support the government in fulfilling community food needs, including in emergency conditions due to natural disasters.
