Perum Bulog has ensured the availability of essential food commodities, particularly rice and cooking oil, remain in very secure and adequate condition to meet public demand until the end of the year. The public has been urged to remain calm and avoid excessive purchasing (panic buying), including ahead of major religious celebrations and amid global geopolitical dynamics.

Perum Bulog Chief Executive Officer Lieutenant General (Retired) Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani stated that as of today, government rice reserves (Cadangan Beras Pemerintah/CBP) controlled by Perum Bulog have reached 3.74 million tonnes. This figure is projected to continue increasing with ongoing domestic grain and rice procurement activities being conducted across all regions.

“The rice stock controlled by Bulog is currently at a very strong level, approximately 3.74 million tonnes. With harvests underway in various regions and our continuous procurement efforts, we project stocks will increase and by end of March could reach between 4.5 to 5 million tonnes,” Ramdhani stated in a statement on Monday (9 March) in Jakarta.

Beyond rice availability, Bulog has also ensured cooking oil supplies remain secure. This is supported by the Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) policy from the Ministry of Commerce, which allocates approximately 46 million litres of MinyaKita cooking oil to Bulog monthly.

With these conditions in place, Bulog assures that rice and cooking oil availability for the public remains secure and guaranteed until year-end.

“With strong rice stocks and support for cooking oil supplies through the DMO policy, the public need not worry about food availability. We ensure supplies remain available and sufficient to meet public demand,” Ramdhani added.

Beyond these two primary commodities, availability of other essential goods has also been monitored as adequate. Based on field monitoring, prices of various essential goods remain relatively stable and controlled in the market.

Accordingly, the public has been urged to shop wisely according to their needs and avoid excessive purchasing.

“There is no need for public panic. National food stocks are secure and the government continues to ensure their availability. We encourage the public to remain calm and shop normally,” he concluded.

The Ministry of Agriculture has ensured production and domestic crude palm oil (CPO) stocks are in secure condition to anticipate increased demand for cooking oil during Ramadan. For MinyaKita purchases, individual consumers are limited to a maximum of 12 litres or one carton.

Plantation holding PTPN III, through its sub-holding PTPN IV PalmCo, has ensured readiness of domestic cooking oil supplies to maintain price stability during Ramadan and approaching Eid al-Fitr. Jakarta provincial government predicts increased food demand ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 2026, particularly for eggs, meat, shallots, and cooking oil.

Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman has assured that national food stocks are in surplus and secure through Eid al-Fitr 2026.
