Surabaya (ANTARA) – Perum Bulog East Java is accelerating distribution of maize under the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation Programme (SPHP) at Rp5,000 per kilogram to support the availability of feed ingredients for livestock farmers and sustain the national livestock industry.

Langgeng Wisnu A, head of Perum Bulog’s East Java regional office, said in a statement in Surabaya on Thursday that the province’s SPHP maize allocation was 133,867 tonnes. A total of 100,699 tonnes, or 75.22 per cent, had been distributed to livestock farmers.

He said East Java currently had 6,437 tonnes of maize in stock, with a further 35,804 tonnes being shipped to the province from South Sulawesi, South-east Sulawesi, North Sulawesi and West Nusa Tenggara.

“Livestock farmers need not worry, as the maize stocks managed by Bulog East Java are more than sufficient to meet the remaining demand for SPHP maize,” he said.

He said Bulog East Java was now focusing on speeding up the movement of stocks and distribution to farmers in need, so that no distribution bottlenecks would prevent them from obtaining maize.

In addition to accelerating SPHP distribution, Bulog is continuing its assignment to procure Government Maize Reserves (CJP) from domestic farmers’ harvests.

For 2026, the government has set a procurement target of one million tonnes. The Government Purchase Price (HPP) is Rp5,500 per kilogram for maize with a moisture content of 18–20 per cent at farm level, and Rp6,400 per kilogram for maize with a maximum moisture content of 14 per cent that meets the required quality standards when delivered to Bulog warehouses.

“Procurement is being optimised through stronger coordination with various stakeholders and regional procurement networks. This is intended to provide farmers with market certainty and strengthen national maize reserves,” he said.

He said that by strengthening domestic maize procurement, managing government stocks and accelerating SPHP distribution at Rp5,000 per kilogram, Bulog was reaffirming its commitment to balancing the interests of farmers and livestock producers, particularly ahead of the year-end Christmas and New Year period.

“This upstream-to-downstream synergy is part of Bulog’s tangible contribution to maintaining food supply and price stability, strengthening the sustainability of the livestock sector and supporting national food security,” he said.

Separately, Perum Bulog president director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani said accelerating SPHP maize distribution was a concrete step to ensure livestock farmers could access affordable feed ingredients while maintaining the stability of national maize supplies.

“Bulog is fully committed to ensuring that maize is available and accessible to livestock farmers at the government-set price of Rp5,000 per kilogram,” he said.
