Bulog East Java Achieves 100% Target, Absorbs 884,000 Tonnes of Unhusked Rice

Perum Bulog’s East Java Regional Office has recorded a stellar achievement in safeguarding national food security. The office’s absorption of unhusked rice from farmers has officially reached 100 percent of the target set by the company, with a total quantum of 884,559 tonnes of rice equivalent.

East Java Bulog Regional Leader Langgeng Wisnu A revealed that this success surpasses the achievement in the same period of the previous year. It is the result of thorough preparation and massive collaboration in the field.

“We prepared for this achievement maximally from the beginning of this year. Preparations included intensive coordination with relevant agencies, the readiness of the Bulog Grain Pick-Up Team, the budget for purchasing Harvested Dry Grain (GKP), strong coordination with the TNI and Polri, agricultural extension workers, and the readiness of partner mills to process farmers’ GKP,” he stated in Surabaya on Tuesday (14/7).

Furthermore, this extraordinary achievement could not have been realised without the full support of the Governor of East Java, the Regents and Mayors, as well as the Agriculture Agency through its field extension workers. The highest appreciation was also conveyed to the Agriculture Agency’s Field Agricultural Extension Officers (PPL), the TNI through Babinsa, the Polri through Bhabinkamtibmas in each working area, and the Bulog Grain Pick-Up Team who worked tirelessly to secure the farmers’ harvest.

Langgeng explained that although the grain absorption target has been fully met, Bulog East Java will not stop its purchasing activities. Bulog East Java is committed to remaining present in the community and continuing to absorb grain to ensure that price stability at the producer (farmer) level is well maintained.

“Even though we have exceeded the target, we will continue to absorb farmers’ grain. This is a form of the state’s commitment and presence through Bulog to prevent grain prices at the farmer level from plummeting and to keep them at a profitable level,” he added.

In addition to focusing on rice commodities, Bulog East Java is also intensively absorbing other food commodities, namely Dry Shelled Corn (JPK). To date, the realisation of JPK absorption by Bulog East Java has reached 50,727 tonnes, equivalent to 50.73 percent of the set target. Bulog East Java is optimistic that the positive trend in corn absorption will continue to increase as the harvest season progresses.
