Bulog DKI-Banten Ensures Rice Quality for Second Phase of Food Aid

State logistics agency Perum Bulog’s Regional Office for DKI Jakarta and Banten has confirmed the quality of rice to be distributed under the second phase of the Food Aid programme through a joint inspection with stakeholders at the Sunter Timur Warehouse Complex in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, as part of preparations for distribution in August. “This quality check is one of the coordination stages in preparing for the distribution of Food Aid by involving relevant stakeholders, to ensure the rice to be distributed is in good condition,” said Deputy Head of Bulog DKI Jakarta and Banten, Hardian Dendar Dinata, in Jakarta on Thursday. He stated that the inspection involved representatives from relevant agencies within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, such as the Social Affairs Agency, the Food Security Agency, the Metro Jaya Police Food Task Force, and transportation service providers. He noted that the distribution of the second phase of food aid is planned for August, covering a three-month allocation. According to him, as a presidential directive programme, this second phase of Food Aid distribution is expected to have a stabilising effect on rice commodity prices. He mentioned that with a distribution target of 33.14 million Beneficiary Families, consumer demand for rice in the market can be suppressed to help maintain the inflation rate of staple food items. Perum Bulog’s DKI Jakarta and Banten Regional Office also conducted quality checks on rice for the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation programme and the Cheap Food Movement. He said that routine quality checks are carried out to ensure the stock managed in Bulog warehouses is in good condition before being distributed to the public. “Both for aid and sales purposes, the quality is maintained and safe for consumption needs,” he said.
