Bulog DIY strengthens price stabilisation by accelerating food assistance

Perum Bulog’s Regional Office for the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) is strengthening measures to stabilise food prices by accelerating the distribution of rice food assistance and the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation (SPHP) programme. Additionally, the distribution of ‘Minyakita’ cooking oil is being expedited to maintain food affordability for the public, stated Dedi Aprilyadi, Head of Perum Bulog Yogyakarta Regional Office, in Yogyakarta on Sunday.

The Head of Bulog DIY, accompanied by the Procurement Manager of Bulog DIY alongside the Food Task Force of the Yogyakarta Regional Police, the Yogyakarta City Department of Industry and Trade, the DIY Department of Food Security and Agriculture, and market price monitoring officers, conducted direct inspections of traditional markets, including Prawirotaman Market and Beringharjo Market.

‘Direct monitoring is conducted to ensure the availability of essential food commodities, monitor price developments at the trader level, and ensure the effectiveness of the government’s food stabilisation programmes,’ said Dedi Aprilyadi. He added that the availability of ‘Minyakita’ at the retail level was also found to be secure, with prices remaining within the maximum retail price (HET) set by the government.

He noted that the rice stocks managed by Bulog are currently at a very strong level. As of early June 2024, the rice stocks managed by the Bulog Yogyakarta Regional Office reached approximately 244,000 tonnes. ‘This amount is more than sufficient to support the food assistance programme, the distribution of SPHP, and various government interventions to maintain the stability of rice supply and prices within our operational area,’ he said.
