BULOG distributes food assistance to 1.2 million recipients in Lampung
Perum BULOG is distributing food assistance in the form of rice to almost 1.2 million beneficiaries in Lampung Province, as part of the government’s efforts to maintain food security and assist the community in meeting basic needs amidst dynamic economic conditions.
The President Director of Perum BULOG, Lieutenant General Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani (Ret.), stated that this food assistance is part of a government programme targeting beneficiaries within the first to fourth deciles of economic status.
“In Lampung alone, there are almost 1.2 million beneficiaries. This assistance consists of 10 kilograms per month for a period of three months; therefore, for August and September, recipients will receive a total of 30 kilograms,” said Ahmad Rizal during a working visit alongside the Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, in Pisang Village, Penengahan District, South Lampung, on Friday.
Nationally, this food assistance is being provided to approximately 33.2 million beneficiaries spread across various regions. The programme serves as a form of government attention towards the community, particularly those in the lowest economic strata.
During the visit, food assistance was also distributed to the residents of Pisang Village, where 233 beneficiaries received a total of approximately 6.9 tonnes of rice.
Ahmad Rizal expressed his appreciation for the government’s support in realising this food assistance programme, including the role of Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan in proposing the initiative to the President.
“This is the result of the Coordinating Minister’s hard work in proposing this to the President, coupled with the President’s approval. Therefore, we should be grateful,” he remarked.
According to him, food assistance is a tangible manifestation of the government’s presence in assisting the public while simultaneously maintaining national food stability. He also noted that the development of the village demonstrates progress that is being felt by the community.
The working visit by the President Director of Perum BULOG and the Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs is part of the government’s efforts to ensure that the distribution of food assistance proceeds smoothly and that its benefits are received directly by the people.
The government hopes that this rice assistance will help meet the food requirements of the beneficiaries and maintain public purchasing power amidst economic challenges.
