Bulog confirms 10 million kg rice stock secure for Galungan

Perum Bulog Bali has confirmed that its rice stock of nearly 10.8 million kilograms is secure to meet public demand ahead of the Galungan and Kuningan holidays. “Ahead of Galungan and Kuningan, we ensure that the food stock controlled by Bulog Bali is safe for the next 10 months. Our total current stock reaches 10,795,581 kg and is ready to meet the needs of the Balinese people,” said Bulog Bali Regional Head Simon Melkisedek Lakapu in Denpasar on Sunday. He stated that the public need not worry about the availability of rice or other strategic food commodities as current stock levels are very sufficient. He therefore urged the public not to make excessive purchases. While monitoring market prices across various regions, Bulog Bali found that the prices of rice and several strategic commodities remain relatively stable. “One of Bulog’s tasks is to maintain supply and price stability. To date, rice prices in Bali remain under control. We continue to coordinate with the food task force, local government, and all stakeholders to ensure this condition is maintained during the Galungan and Kuningan celebrations.” The series of Galungan and Kuningan holidays begins with Penampahan Galungan on Tuesday, 16 June, and runs until Umanis Kuningan on 28 June 2026. Noting that demand typically rises while the economy faces various challenges and uncertainties, Bulog is currently focused on distributing food aid for the February-March allocation to the public, aiming to ensure eligible recipients can utilise the rice for their holiday needs. As of mid-June 2026, the agency has distributed food aid to 287,347 Food Aid Recipients, equivalent to 96.5 percent of the total quota in Bali Province. “The food aid programme is a form of state presence to assist the community, particularly in maintaining purchasing power and meeting staple food needs. We continue to accelerate distribution so that all beneficiaries receive their entitlements on time,” Simon confirmed. He also ensured the smooth distribution of the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation programme through traditional markets, Koperasi Desa Merah Putih, retail kiosks, Rumah Pangan Kita outlets, and other channels. Simon noted that to date, 3,028,010 kg of SPHP rice has been distributed across Bali Province as an effort to maintain rice price affordability at the consumer level. “We continue to optimise SPHP rice distribution as a price stabilisation instrument. With massive and equitable distribution, we hope the public can obtain quality rice at affordable prices, especially ahead of major religious holidays when demand tends to increase,” he said. With the synergy between government, businesses, and the community that has been running well, he believes the region’s food situation can be kept safe and conducive during the Galungan and Kuningan celebrations. “With sufficient stock, stable prices, and various effective government intervention programmes, the public is expected to celebrate the holidays calmly and happily,” Simon concluded.
