Bulog conducts MinyaKita market operations to anticipate volatility ahead of Eid al-Adha
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Bulog Regional Office for DKI Jakarta and Banten has launched MinyaKita cooking oil market operations, disbursing oil to several markets in the DKI Jakarta area in anticipation of price volatility ahead of Eid al-Adha.
“With a stock of 30 thousand litres, we will continue to strengthen the distribution of MinyaKita supply, especially to markets that are part of the Market Monitoring and Basic Needs System (SP2KP) in the Jakarta province,” said Taufan Akib, Head of Bulog Regional Office for DKI Jakarta and Banten, in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Taufan said the current stock of cooking oil is 30,000 litres and will increase as shipments from producers are approved. He explained that the MinyaKita oil distribution is one of the efforts to balance the supply of basic goods in the community and maintain price stability. The aim is to prevent concerns of shortages that would drive up prices.
“We hope that with the stock available and new stock added, Bulog will ensure that the public has easy and affordable access to staple goods, particularly cooking oil,” he said.
The agency is also coordinating with the Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Office for Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises and Trade (PPKUKM) to map market needs in the DKI Jakarta area so that the distribution of MinyaKita can run effectively and efficiently.
Taufan added that accelerating the distribution of Bantuan Pangan (Banpang) in the DKI Jakarta area is also being pursued. He said that the earlier bottlenecks in raw plastic materials that hampered packaging supplies have now been resolved. “Currently, the acceleration of Banpang distribution is underway. Several districts are distributing today, such as Johar Baru, Senen, Tanah Abang, Kemayoran, Matraman, Kalideres, Cengkareng, Palmerah, Tambora and several other districts,” he added.
He said accelerating Banpang distribution is a strategic step to ensure that the consumption needs of Penerima Bantuan Pangan (PBP) are met ahead of Eid al-Adha. Each recipient will receive 20 kg of rice and 4 litres of cooking oil for two months, expected to curb demand pressures in the market and help stabilise prices. “This acts as an economic stimulus to maintain price stability as well as the food security of the recipients,” he said.
