Bulog Chief Says No Need To Panic, Rice Stocks Secure
Jakarta – Perum Bulog’s Director General Letjen TNI (Retired) Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani has assured the public that government rice reserves are secure. He stated that the current Government Rice Reserve (Cadangan Beras Pemerintah, CBP) stands at 4 million tonnes and is sufficient to meet public demand.
“We ask for assistance in communicating to the public that there is no need for panic buying. We are declaring that stocks are in a safe condition and sufficient for needs until next year,” he said during a meeting at Perum Bulog’s office at the Safe Travel, Sharing Hope Together event, Tuesday (17 March 2026).
Regarding the distribution of subsidised rice (SPHP), he noted that current distribution amounts to approximately 860,000 tonnes. The agency is adjusting its distribution policy to comply with government regulations.
“In accordance with the latest Bapanas policy, our total is approximately 860,000 tonnes. So unlike the initial figures of 1.5 million tonnes, we are targeting around 860,000 tonnes,” he explained.
He emphasised that the distribution of subsidised rice for this year will continue throughout the year from January to December 2026. “Unlike previously when distribution was halted in February, March, and April, we are recommending a new policy in 2026 so that distribution does not stop,” he stated.
Ahmad Rizal added that distribution during the Ramadan and Eid periods will be maximised through affordable markets in cooperation with various institutions, including the police, military, and local government authorities.
