Bulog Chief Reveals How RPK Operator Ordered SPHP Rice Before Alleged Adulteration
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Perum Bulog President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani has revealed how an operator of a Rumah Pangan Kita (RPK) outlet in East Jakarta ordered rice under the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation (SPHP) programme through the official system before allegedly repacking and adulterating it.
“Following up on what was also conveyed by the Minister of Agriculture, who is concurrently head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas), Perum Bulog and the East Jakarta Police chief were informed yesterday of the arrest of an individual who repacked Bulog’s SPHP rice into 50-kilogram sacks,” Rizal said in Jakarta on Thursday.
Rizal said Bulog and police had uncovered alleged repacking of Bulog SPHP rice into 50-kilogram sacks by tracing its distribution in East Jakarta.
He said the investigation began after Bulog received information about the arrest of an individual involved in repacking SPHP rice in the Matraman area.
Following the operation, police questioned several people in connection with the alleged misuse of SPHP rice through a particular distribution network.
Rizal said Bulog was not only tracing those involved on the ground, but also examining how the SPHP rice had been obtained through the company’s official distribution channels.
He said investigators identified the registration number of the truck transporting the rice and then directed their inquiry to Bulog’s Jakarta regional office.
