Bulog CEO States National Rice Stock Reaches 5 Million Tonnes
The President Director of Perum Bulog, Lieutenant General TNI (Ret.) Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, stated that the current national rice stock stands at 5 million tonnes. According to him, this stock is secure and well-maintained to support national food security.
“The availability of rice stock that currently exceeds 5 million tonnes is concrete proof that Bulog is present to maintain the stability of rice supply and prices throughout Indonesia,” Ahmad said in his statement following a working visit from Commission IV of the House of Representatives at the Bulog Labuan Bajo Branch Office warehouse in West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Saturday (25/4/2026).
Perum Bulog, he added, remains committed to safeguarding national food availability and stability through optimal management of the Government Rice Reserves (CBP). In addition to rice, Bulog also distributes other food commodities through the Minyakita subsidised cooking oil programme for the public.
The Bulog Labuan Bajo Branch Office itself has distributed 37,908 litres of Minyakita. Meanwhile, for the entire NTT Province, it reaches 1.37 million litres at a highest retail price (HET) of Rp 15,700 per litre.
“This is part of the government’s efforts to maintain people’s purchasing power and stabilise food prices in the region,” Ahmad explained.
The Chair of Commission IV of the House of Representatives, Siti Hediati Soeharto or Titiek Soeharto, who led the working visit, appreciated Bulog for the availability of the 5 million tonnes of rice stock. Titiek assessed that Bulog has successfully supported the achievement of food self-sufficiency, including in the NTT region. She also appreciated the conditions at Bulog Labuan Bajo.
“The warehouse conditions are clean, the rice quality is well-maintained, commodity turnover runs smoothly, and the Minyakita distribution also shows good achievements. This performance must be continuously maintained and improved,” Titiek stated.
On the other hand, Titiek noted that there are still challenges in the post-harvest aspect at the upstream level. According to her, the region needs support for modern drying facilities and adequate milling.
“We encourage Bulog, the Regional Government, or the private sector to harness that potential so that it can further prosper the local farmers’ economy,” Titiek said.
The working visit by Commission IV of the House of Representatives was to directly ensure the condition and availability of food reserves managed by Bulog, particularly in the NTT region. The Commission IV delegation inspected the warehousing facilities, storage systems, and distribution mechanisms run by Bulog.
