Jakarta (ANTARA) - Perum Bulog’s President Director, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, has stressed that the massive distribution of rice under the Stabilisation of Food Supply and Price (SPHP) programme is aimed at maintaining the stability of the commodity’s price throughout Indonesia.

“The distribution of SPHP rice is carried out throughout the year as a strategic instrument to maintain price stability and ensure that the public can obtain rice at affordable prices,” Rizal said when contacted in Jakarta on Thursday.

Rizal stated that Bulog continues to strengthen its role as the main operator in maintaining the stability of national rice supply and prices through the SPHP programme. The government rice reserve stock (CBP) managed by the state-owned food company currently exceeds 5 million tonnes.

Bulog is collaborating with the National Food Agency (Bapanas) to ensure uninterrupted SPHP rice distribution since the beginning of 2026, thereby keeping supply availability secure and prices controlled across all regions of Indonesia.

Rizal mentioned that the realisation of SPHP rice distribution up to the end of April 2026 has reached more than 380,000 tonnes.

This realisation consists of 221,000 tonnes from the extension of the 2025 programme continued into January-February 2026, while 167,300 tonnes of it represent the 2026 programme distributed since March.

“This achievement demonstrates consistency in maintaining the continuity of rice distribution to the public without any transitional disruptions at the start of the year,” he explained.

Furthermore, Rizal conveyed that throughout 2026, Bulog has been assigned to distribute a total of 828,000 tonnes of SPHP rice. This assignment refers to the Letter from the Head of the National Food Agency Number 204/TS.03.03/K/2/2026 dated 11 February 2026 regarding the Distribution of Government Food Reserves (CPP).

He admitted that Bulog continues to expand distribution channels to ensure broader and more even reach.

Distribution is carried out through various channels, including retailers in people’s markets, state-owned enterprises, cooperatives, Red and White Village/Urban Village Cooperatives, outlets supported by local governments, government agency cooperatives, as well as through support from the TNI and Police, including the Cheap Food Movement (GPM) activities together with ministries, agencies, and local governments.

Distribution is also strengthened through the Our Food House (RPK) network, which now reaches around 80,000 points across Indonesia, and expanded to modern retail and supermarket networks.

“This step is part of our strategy to ensure that the public’s access to SPHP rice becomes easier and more even in various regions,” he said.

SPHP rice is distributed in 5-kilogram packaging with medium-quality rice and sold at the highest retail price (HET), namely Rp12,500 per kilogram for zone 1 (Java, Lampung, South Sumatra, Bali, NTB, Sulawesi), Rp13,100 per kilogram for zone 2 (Sumatra excluding Lampung and South Sumatra, NTT, Kalimantan), and Rp13,500 per kilogram for zone 3 (Maluku and Papua).

“This stabilisation effort is also supported by the availability of CBP stock managed by Bulog in a very strong condition, reaching more than 5 million tonnes as of the end of April 2026,” Rizal added.

With adequate stock support, extensive distribution networks, and cross-sectoral synergy, Rizal assures that the SPHP programme will continue to run optimally throughout 2026 to maintain rice supply and price stability and guarantee affordable food access for all Indonesian people.
