Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Bulog Director General Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani expressed gratitude for the nation’s secure and abundant food stocks. He made the remarks during an Eid al-Adha 2026 sacrificial animal slaughter event at Bulog’s central office in Jakarta on Friday, 29 May 2026.

Rizal stated that the sacrificial activity was part of the spirit of sharing with members of the public and Bulog staff in need of assistance.

“This morning, Friday, 29 May, is still within the Tasyrik days. Bulog has continued the sacrificial animal slaughter activities, extending the Eid al-Adha observance from two days ago. The purpose is to provide sacrificial animals to employees in need, such as office boys, cleaners, security personnel, drivers, and others,” Rizal said.

He noted that a total of several dozen sacrificial animals were slaughtered across Bulog’s DKI Jakarta region, comprising 39 cattle and 26 goats.

“This is part of our Eid al-Adha activities yesterday and today, totalling 39 cattle and 26 goats conducted across Bulog’s DKI Jakarta operations,” he added.

According to Rizal, Eid al-Adha serves as a reminder of the importance of food security for any nation. He linked this to the current sufficient national food stocks.

“With the spirit of Eid al-Adha, we encourage increased sharing among each other. The message from Prophets Ibrahim and Ismail, along with Hajar, underscores that food security is essential for individuals and especially for nations,” he said.

Rizal affirmed Indonesia is currently in a state of food self-sufficiency with abundant government rice reserves.

“We all know, Alhamdulillah, our country has achieved food self-sufficiency, with government rice stocks now at 5.39 million tonnes,” he stated.

He confirmed the stock would meet national food needs until next year.

“Insha’Allah, this will ensure our stock lasts until next year. This success is due to the synergy of all stakeholders, including the central and local governments, TNI, Polri, field agricultural extension officers (PPL), and the outstanding farmers,” he added.

Rizal said the current success in food self-sufficiency is tangible and directly felt by the public.

“Food self-sufficiency is a real and palpable reality. Over recent days, we have provided significant protein sources to the community and the less fortunate,” he concluded.
