Jakarta (ANTARA) - Perum Bulog’s CEO Agmad Rizal Ramdhani stated that the construction of 100 new warehouses will strengthen national food security through increased post-harvest storage capacity.

Rizal assured that his company is prepared to carry out the government’s mandate with a measured, professional, and accountable approach.

“This assignment is a strategic step in strengthening the national logistics system and food security,” Rizal said in Jakarta on Thursday.

Bulog also ensured that all stages are being prepared meticulously to ensure the infrastructure development is precisely located, functional, and beneficial to the community.

Furthermore, Rizal said that as a follow-up to the infrastructure development plan, the state-owned food company is preparing three main steps.

First, the preparation of a feasibility study involving various stakeholders, including academics and experts. The study covers technical, operational, and financial aspects to ensure the development runs effectively and sustainably.

Second, the preparation of technical considerations with the Ministry of Agriculture, particularly the Directorate General of Food Crops, so that the warehouse and post-harvest infrastructure development is adjusted to the typology and characteristics of each region.

Third, the evaluation of financial feasibility and recommendations for the use of non-permanent government investment funds.

Once these three elements are fulfilled, Rizal continued, the results will be reported to the Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs, Zulkifli Hasan, to obtain written approval before construction begins.

The development programme is planned to be spread across 92 districts with a total budget of around Rp5 trillion, consisting of approximately Rp4.4 trillion for main infrastructure construction and around Rp560 billion for mechanisation, automation, and information technology systems.

The post-harvest infrastructure development plan includes 94 storage warehouse units; six paddy silos; eight maize silos; 17 rice dryers; 17 Rice Milling Units (RMUs); eight maize dryers; and nine rice processing centres and packaging facilities.

In its implementation, each location will undergo technical feasibility tests such as soil tests, land slope analysis, and road access studies to support logistics transport mobilisation.

Rizal stated that the physical construction will be carried out by state-owned construction companies in accordance with Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 14 of 2026 regarding the development of 100 post-harvest infrastructure points across Indonesia.

The infrastructure will be prioritised in food production centres such as Lampung, Java, and South Sulawesi with complete facilities including dryers, RMUs, silos, up to modern mechanisation and automation systems.

Meanwhile, in island regions such as Natuna, Rote, and Tidore, the development will focus on storage warehouses to maintain food supply stability, especially during extreme weather conditions.

Through these steps, Bulog reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the national food logistics system and ensuring equitable and sustainable food availability from Sabang to Merauke.
