Bulog CEO Confirms Free Nutritious Meals Programme Will Not Use SPHP Rice or Minyakita

The State Logistics Agency (Bulog) has confirmed that the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme will not use Stabilisation of Food Supply and Prices (SPHP) rice or Minyakita, in other words, subsidised food items. All commodities supplied by Bulog to support the programme are premium products.

Bulog CEO Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani made this assertion when responding to a question regarding a statement by the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sudaryono, who said that subsidised goods must not be distributed for the MBG programme.

"There are none, the rice we provide for MBG is premium rice. So no subsidised rice is given to MBG. This includes Minyakita, so what we provide to the MBG programme is all premium," Rizal said during a press conference at Bulog’s headquarters in Jakarta on Monday (3/8/2026).

Previously, BGN Head Sudaryono had stressed that kitchens serving the Free Nutritious Meals programme are prohibited from using subsidised ingredients such as Minyakita. The same restriction applies to the use of subsidised 3-kg LPG cylinders.

"SPPG (MBG kitchen units) must not cook for MBG using Minyakita, must not use 3-kg LPG cylinders, and must not use SPHP rice," he stated during a press conference at the BGN office in Jakarta on Monday (27/7/2026).

Should any MBG kitchen be found violating the rules, the BGN will take firm action, including the possibility of shutting down the kitchen. "If there are any, for instance if you find them in the media, please report which kitchen is using Minyakita, and we will give them a warning. We will issue a stern warning, and if they remain stubborn and defiant, we will close the kitchen," he said.
