Bulog CEO: 5.3 Million Tonne Rice Stock Achieved Thanks to Cross-Sectoral Role
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Perum Bulog’s CEO Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani emphasised that the government rice reserve stock (CBP), now at 5.3 million tonnes, has been well-maintained thanks to support and cross-sectoral collaboration in strengthening national food security.
“The strong stock condition is the result of synergy among the government, farmers, milling partners, local governments, and all national food stakeholders,” said Rizal during the National Dialogue titled “Realising Sustainable Food Self-Sufficiency” held at Bulog’s Romokalisari Rental Warehouse in Gresik Regency, East Java, monitored online from Jakarta on Wednesday.
Rizal affirmed that his company continues to strengthen the absorption of paddy and rice from farmers as part of efforts to maintain government rice reserves, supply stability, and the affordability of food prices for the public.
“The CBP stock at Bulog as of today reaches 5.329 million tonnes and is the highest peak in Bulog’s history of storing rice. This potential will continue to increase, and we predict it can reach 5.5 to 6 million tonnes,” stated Rizal.
Perum Bulog, together with the Indonesian Ministry of Agriculture, brought together several academics, observers, youth organisations, students, farmers, and market players in the national dialogue event.
Rizal explained that the event serves as a strategic discussion space to strengthen collective understanding of the national food situation.
Additionally, it is an important momentum to directly showcase the condition of government rice reserves while strengthening cross-sectoral dialogue on the future of national food.
At the same location, Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman emphasised that the current national rice stock has recorded the highest achievement in Indonesia’s history since independence.
According to him, this achievement is a positive signal for strengthening national food security amid climate change challenges and global food dynamics.
Amran added that there has been an increase in national food production, supported by data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), which record Indonesia’s rice production at 34.6 million tonnes with a surplus of around 4 million tonnes.
“This achievement of increase is inseparable from various government steps in strengthening agricultural infrastructure, improving production facilities, encouraging the use of superior drought-resistant seeds, and presenting strategic policies that support increasing national food productivity,” said Amran.
The national dialogue was also attended by several national academics and observers, youth organisations, student executive bodies across East Java, farmer group associations, and market traders.
