Bulog Central Kalimantan distributes 2,500 tonnes of SPHP rice to maintain price stability

Bulog Central Kalimantan (Kalteng) has distributed up to 2,500 tonnes of the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation Programme (SPHP) rice, alongside food assistance, to maintain price stability in the market.

“We continue to optimise the distribution of SPHP rice, reaching up to 2,500 tonnes across various official distribution channels, including traditional markets, food kiosks, the Cheap Food Movement (GPM), and retailer networks working with local governments,” said Erwin Budiana, Regional Head of Perum Bulog Central Kalimantan, in Palangka Raya on Sunday.

Erwin explained that SPHP rice serves as a strategic government instrument to ensure the community can continue to access rice at affordable prices. “Therefore, we are accelerating and expanding its distribution so that the benefits can be felt evenly,” he added.

The Maximum Retail Price (HET) for SPHP rice in Central Kalimantan is Rp13,100 per kilogram, or Rp65,500 for a five-kilogram package. This price remains lower than the average market prices for medium and premium rice. According to the latest data released by the Central Kalimantan Department of Trade and Industry (Disdagperin), the average price for medium rice is Rp14,426 per kilogram, while premium rice stands at Rp16,967 per kilogram.

Erwin explained that the combination of food assistance distribution and SPHP rice distribution is an effective step in maintaining the balance of supply and prices in the market. With strong availability and an extensive distribution network, the public does not need to worry about the adequacy of the national rice supply.

“As of early June 2026, the rice stock managed by the Bulog Central Kalimantan Regional Office has reached approximately 16,000 tonnes. This amount is more than sufficient to meet the needs of the food assistance programme, SPHP, and various government interventions to maintain the stability of rice supply and prices,” said Erwin.

Regarding food assistance distribution, as of 6 June 2026, nearly 70 per cent has been realised, with 2,800 tonnes of rice and 560,000 litres of cooking oil received by more than 140,000 Food Assistance Recipients (PBP) out of a total target of 205,000 recipients. “The government aims for all food assistance to be distributed by the end of June 2026. The acceleration of food assistance distribution is expected to help mitigate price pressures on rice and cooking oil at the consumer level,” he concluded.
