Bulog Central Java accelerates food aid distribution to maintain price stability
Perum Bulog Central Java is continuing to strengthen national food stabilisation measures by accelerating the distribution of rice food aid, as well as the distribution of the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation Programme (SPHP) rice and Minyakita cooking oil. The Head of Perum Bulog Central Java, Sri Muniati, stated in Semarang on Sunday that the government has prepared various instruments to anticipate price dynamics for rice and cooking oil in several regions. One of the primary steps currently being implemented is the acceleration of food aid distribution and the optimisation of SPHP rice and Minyakita delivery to traditional markets.
As of early June 2026, rice stocks managed by Bulog Central Java reached 366,846 tonnes. She ensured that this amount is more than sufficient to meet the needs of food aid programmes, SPHP, and various government interventions aimed at maintaining the stability of rice supply and prices across Indonesia. As of 6 June 2026, the distribution of rice food aid has reached 72.26 per cent, with 49,103.58 tonnes of rice and 9,863,300 litres of cooking oil distributed to 2,207,245 beneficiaries out of a total target of 3,397,673 beneficiaries. The government aims to complete the distribution of all food aid by the end of June 2026.
She explained that the accelerated distribution of food aid is believed to have a direct impact on strengthening community purchasing power, while simultaneously helping to dampen price pressures for rice and cooking oil at the consumer level. In addition to food aid, Perum Bulog Central Java is also optimising the distribution of SPHP rice, reaching 35,149.43 tonnes, and 6,186,124 litres of subsidised cooking oil (Minyakita) through various official distribution channels. These include SP2KP markets, traditional markets, food kiosks, assisted outlets (RPK, SRC, KDKMP), Cheap Food Movements (GPM), and retail networks working with local governments.
“SPHP rice and Minyakita are strategic government instruments to ensure the public can still obtain rice and cooking oil at affordable prices. Therefore, we continue to accelerate and expand their distribution so that the benefits can be felt evenly,” she said. She assessed that the combination of food aid distribution along with SPHP rice and Minyakita distribution is an effective step in maintaining the balance of supply and prices in the market. With strong stock availability and an extensive distribution network, she noted that the public does not need to worry about the adequacy of the national rice and cooking oil supply. Bulog also ensured that all government rice reserves currently managed are in a safe condition and ready for use at any time to support national food stabilisation policies. “We invite the public to remain calm because national stocks are in a very sufficient condition. Bulog, together with the National Food Agency and all stakeholders, will continue to work to ensure that rice and cooking oil prices remain stable and the community’s food needs are met,” she concluded.
