Magelang (ANTARA) – Perum Bulog has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the operations of Merah Putih Village/Urban-Ward Cooperatives (KDKMP), as part of efforts to strengthen the people’s economy and widen public access to essential food supplies.

Perum Bulog Marketing Director Rahmanto Amin Jatmiko said in Magelang on Thursday that the support involved supplying SPHP rice—part of the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation programme—to a number of KDKMP locations, as well as strengthening cooperation with state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and relevant institutions.

He made the remarks while accompanying Deputy Minister of Cooperatives Farida Farichah on a visit to the Merah Putih Village Cooperative in Tanjung village, Muntilan district, Temanggung regency.

“As a tangible form of support, Bulog has ensured that rice supplies at all 107 KDKMP locations being monitored today have been fulfilled. In addition, Bulog has distributed rice to 1,250 KDKMP locations across Indonesia,” he said.

Bulog plans to extend its distribution network by supplying around 8,000 more KDKMP locations. The expansion will be carried out in stages, in line with the government’s target of establishing KDKMP cooperatives in every village in Indonesia, of which there are more than 80,000.

To support the programme, Bulog is working with several SOEs and related institutions, including Pertamina, banks belonging to the State-Owned Banks Association (Himbara), ID FOOD, Pos Logistik and the Revolving Fund Management Institution (LPDB).

He said support for KDKMP was consistent with the government’s mandate for Bulog to uphold three main pillars: affordability, availability and food price stabilisation. These pillars underpin Bulog’s efforts to ensure that the public’s food needs continue to be met.

Bulog will also continue to strengthen cooperation with other SOEs and Agrinas Pangan, which manages KDKMP, to ensure that the people-centred economic programme, part of President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita agenda, delivers tangible benefits to the public.

He also called on the public, stakeholders and the media to support the KDKMP programme so it can operate effectively and its benefits can be widely felt.

Through expanded supplies and inter-institutional collaboration, Bulog hopes KDKMP can become a driver of economic activity in villages and urban wards while also supporting national food security.
