Purwokerto (ANTARA) - Perum Bulog’s Banyumas branch, together with the Food Task Force, has stepped up monitoring of sales of rice under the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation Programme (SPHP) in Cilacap regency, Central Java, to ensure prices comply with government rules.

Prawoko Setyo Aji, head of Perum Bulog’s Banyumas branch, said in Purwokerto, Banyumas regency, Central Java, on Friday that the checks were carried out at several Rumah Pangan Kita (RPK) outlets on Thursday (29 October) to prevent potential irregularities in SPHP rice sales.

“We are monitoring sales to ensure SPHP rice at RPK outlets is sold in accordance with the rules, while also preventing misuse in its distribution,” he said.

He said monitoring was conducted across the Banyumas branch’s area of operations, with the involvement of the Food Task Force and other relevant stakeholders.

According to the inspection findings, RPK operators were still complying with the maximum retail price (HET) for SPHP rice, set at Rp12,500 per kilogram.

Most traders, he added, were selling the rice in five-kilogram packs for Rp60,000, equivalent to Rp12,000 per kilogram and below the price ceiling.

He said the joint monitoring with the Food Task Force also provided guidance to RPK operators, helping ensure that the SPHP rice distribution network continued to operate effectively and that stocks remained accessible to the public.

“Under the National Food Agency’s (Bapanas) rules, purchases of SPHP rice by the public are limited to a maximum of five packs per day, at a price not exceeding Rp12,500 per kilogram, through Bulog partner RPK outlets,” he said.

He added that Bulog’s Banyumas branch had distributed 19,380 tonnes of SPHP rice by October 2026, about 109% of its target of 17,797 tonnes.

He said the achievement was part of Bulog’s efforts to maintain supply availability and control rice prices in the market.

“We continue to work to stabilise food supplies by distributing SPHP rice through RPK outlets, traditional markets and the Affordable Food Movement. These activities are carried out regularly with the involvement of various parties,” Prawoko said.
