State-owned food company Perum Bulog is ready to launch its new ‘Beras Kita’ SPHP Premium rice product, but is awaiting a final decision from an upcoming limited coordination meeting (Rakortas) at the Coordinating Ministry for Food. Bulog President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani stated that the company has already begun collaborating with the Indonesian Rice Millers and Rice Entrepreneurs Association (Perpadi) to ensure a swift rollout once approval is granted. The programme involves processing 2 million tonnes of the government’s rice reserves (CBP) into commercial premium rice through a ‘rice to rice’ scheme. Because Bulog’s own milling capacity is limited, the state-owned enterprise is engaging private millers under Perpadi to meet the target within approximately four months. Rizal explained that the final product will be marketed as ‘Beras Kita SPHP Premium’ and will not replace existing Bulog brands like Befood. The goal is to create a new, easily recognisable identity for government rice products. Technical discussions with Perpadi are ongoing to finalise the milling scheme, by-product handling, and distribution channels, so that operations can commence within a week of the Rakortas decision.
