BULOG and House Commission IV Strengthen Synergy to Support Klaten Farmers' Welfare
Perum BULOG supported a specific working visit by Commission IV of the DPR RI to Wonosari village, Trucuk subdistrict, Klaten regency, Central Java. The move forms part of efforts to strengthen synergy between the government, the DPR RI, state-owned enterprises and farmers in accelerating the realisation of sustainable national food self-sufficiency.
The visit began with a harvest led by the Chair of DPR Commission IV, Siti Hediati Hariyadi, using both manual harvesting and combine harvester methods. The activity symbolised the application of agricultural mechanisation to boost farming productivity.
Siti Hediati expressed appreciation for government policies that provide certainty on unhusked rice prices as well as various forms of support for farmers.
“Farmers are deeply grateful for the setting of the unhusked rice price at Rp6,500 per kilogram. Combined with the various forms of assistance provided, this policy delivers real benefits and is expected to continue improving farmers’ welfare,” she said in a statement on Friday (10 July 2026).
Meanwhile, the President Director of Perum BULOG, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, affirmed that the national food sector’s achievements are the result of collaboration among all stakeholders.
On this occasion, Perum BULOG also handed over assistance in the form of digital scales and basic food packages for the GAPOKTAN farmers’ group association, as well as stationery for children living around the farming area. The assistance reflects BULOG’s commitment to supporting the welfare of farmers and communities in food production centres.
“Indonesia’s rice stocks currently stand at around 5.4 million tonnes, the highest in history. This achievement is the result of joint work by farmers, agricultural extension officers, Babinsa, Bhabinkamtibmas, Pupuk Indonesia and the BULOG Grain Collection Team. With the government purchase price for unhusked rice at Rp6,500 in accordance with the Presidential Instruction, by the first half of 2026 BULOG had absorbed 3.2 million tonnes out of a target of 4 million tonnes. This collaboration forms a strong foundation in realising Indonesian food self-sufficiency,” he said.
Through this working visit, synergy between the DPR RI, the government, state-owned enterprises and farmers is expected to further strengthen the national agricultural ecosystem, improve farmers’ welfare and accelerate the achievement of food self-sufficiency towards sustainable food security.
The event was attended by DPR Commission IV Chair Siti Hediati Hariyadi and members, Perum BULOG President Director Lieutenant General (Ret.) Dr Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo, regional government officials, and members of the Gabungan Kelompok Tani (GAPOKTAN).
