Member VII of the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK), Prof. Dr. Slamet Edy Purnomo, has emphasised that food security is a primary pillar of national resilience, requiring accountable, collaborative, and sustainable governance. He made the remarks during his scientific oration at his honorary professorship inauguration, held by Sultan Agung Islamic University (UNISSULA) in Semarang, Central Java. He affirmed that BPK is committed to supporting government programmes through its constructive audit function, ensuring that every strategic policy, including those in the food sector, operates effectively, efficiently, and transparently, while providing maximum benefit to the public. Also attending the event, President Director of Perum Bulog, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, expressed his appreciation for the professorship awarded to Slamet Edy Purnomo. He acknowledged that Purnomo’s thoughts on governance and strengthening accountability are an important contribution to supporting strategic government programmes, including the realisation of national food security. Rizal stated that Perum Bulog is ready to continue synergising with all stakeholders, including BPK, to ensure that every government assignment is carried out professionally, transparently, and accountably. His presence was a form of respect and support for strengthening synergy between state institutions in realising good governance, particularly in supporting the national strategic agenda in the food sector. Rizal added that Perum Bulog believes that strengthening governance, supported by independent and constructive oversight, is a crucial foundation for maintaining the success of the national food security programme. He noted that synergy between the government, BPK, state-owned enterprises, academics, and all stakeholders will be the main strength in ensuring sufficient, affordable, and sustainable food availability for all Indonesian people.
