Bulog and BPK RI Forge Synergy to Support National Food Security Programme

The VII Member of the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK RI), Prof. Dr. Slamet Edy Purnomo, emphasised that food security is one of the main pillars of national resilience, requiring accountable, collaborative, and sustainable governance.

This was stated by Slamet Edy during a scientific oration at his inauguration as an Honorary Professor, held by Sultan Agung Islamic University (UNISSULA) in Semarang, Central Java. He asserted that BPK RI is committed to supporting various government programmes through constructive auditing functions to ensure that every strategic policy, including those in the food sector, can operate effectively, efficiently, and transparently, while providing maximum benefits to the public.

Also present at the event, the President Director of Perum Bulog, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhante, expressed his appreciation for the inauguration of Slamet Edy Purnomo as an Honorary Professor. He acknowledged that Slamet Edy’s insights regarding governance and the strengthening of accountability represent a significant contribution to supporting strategic government programmes, including the realisation of national food security.

“Perum BULOG is ready to continue synergising with all stakeholders, including BPK RI, to ensure that every government assignment can be executed professionally, transparently, and accountably,” said Rizal.

Rizal’s presence served as both a mark of respect and support for strengthening the synergy between state institutions in achieving good governance, particularly in supporting the national strategic agenda in the field of food security.

Rizal added that Perum Bulog believes that the strengthening of governance, supported by independent and constructive oversight, is a vital foundation for maintaining the success of the national food security programme.

“The synergy between the government, BPK RI, SOEs, academics, and all stakeholders will be the primary strength in ensuring sufficient, affordable, and sustainable food availability for all Indonesian people,” he stated.

During the event, Rizal’s name as the President Director of Perum Bulog was also noted as a leader of a State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) playing a strategic role in supporting the implementation of government policies in the food sector. This reflects the importance of BULOG’s role as a state instrument in maintaining the stability of national food supply and prices.
