JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Bulog’s President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani stated that Bulog has absorbed nearly 300,000 tonnes of dry corn throughout 2026. Bulog was assigned to absorb 1 million tonnes of corn this year. “The corn absorption is now nearly 300,000,” Rizal said when met on the sidelines of Bulog’s 59th Anniversary at Bulog’s office in Jakarta on Monday (11/5/2026). In 2024, Bulog recorded absorbing 102,000 tonnes of dry corn. This means the current corn stock is nearly three times larger than last year. “That is already the highest achievement,” Rizal stated. Bulog has also begun distributing the Stabilisation of Food Supply and Price (SPHP) corn programme to several livestock centre areas. SPHP corn is sold at Rp 5,500 per kilogram in line with government directives. “To reduce the excessively high increase in corn prices,” Rizal explained. The rise in feed prices has come under scrutiny after many farmers complained about the surge in production costs. In Magetan, East Java, chicken farmers even distributed 3 tonnes of eggs for free as a form of protest against the high price of feed.
