The Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection (KemenPPPA) has stated that the handling of the alleged bullying case involving a student at an international school in Serpong, South Tangerang, will be conducted independently.

“Based on our coordination with the Regional Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children (UPTD PPA) of South Tangerage, both the victim’s family and the alleged perpetrators’ family have agreed to resolve the matter privately and will not report the case to the authorities,” said Titi Eko Rahayu, Deputy for Special Child Protection at KemenPPPA, when contacted in Jakarta on Friday.

This agreement was reached following several meetings between the victim’s family and the families of the alleged perpetrators, which were mediated by the school.

KemenPPPA continues to coordinate with relevant parties to monitor the resolution process of the case.

The Ministry emphasised that the handling of the case must prioritise the best interests of the child, including efforts for the victim’s physical and psychological recovery, which must continue until the victim has fully recovered.

Previously, an alleged bullying incident involving a junior high school student at an international school in Serpong, South Tangerang, resulted in injuries to the victim.

In the incident, six senior students allegedly carried out the bullying on the school field, with one of the participants allegedly involving the child of a Deputy Minister. However, the incident was not captured on CCTV as there were no cameras installed in the school field area.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister, with the initials DAS, has denied his child’s involvement in the bullying at the school.
