Bullion Customers Soar, BSI's Gold Business Fee-Based Income Jumps 712%
PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. (BRIS) has recorded increasingly strong growth in its gold business. As of June 2026, BSI had traded 8.06 tonnes of gold through its bullion bank service, with customers exceeding 1.3 million people.
Since the start of 2026, the number of bullion customers has risen 700% year-on-year (YoY), simultaneously driving fee-based income (FBI) from the gold business up 712% YoY.
This performance reflects the public’s growing trust in gold as a long-term investment instrument. Since becoming Indonesia’s first bullion bank, BSI has built an integrated gold business ecosystem ranging from Cicil Emas (gold instalments) and Gadai Emas (gold pawning) to bullion banking services.
Ease of access is one of the main factors behind the surge in public interest. Through the BYOND by BSI application, people can now own gold starting from as little as Rp50,000, making gold investment more inclusive, accessible, safe and practical. Customers can buy and sell gold in real time, 24/7, anytime and anywhere. This digital transformation has widened investment access for people across all segments without requiring a visit to a branch office.
Beyond strengthening digital services, BSI is also accelerating market penetration of physical gold through BSI Gold. BSI Gold is now present at official partner gold shops located in the national gold trading centre. This marks the first step in expanding the BSI Gold distribution network, which in future is intended to reach gold shops across Indonesia to make it increasingly accessible to the public.
BSI’s Finance and Strategy Director, Ade Cahyo Nugroho, said that amid a still challenging economy and increasingly selective investor behaviour, gold is becoming a preferred choice for preserving asset value.
“Through our bullion services, we want to make gold investment easier, safer and more affordable, so that people can begin their golden steps towards building long-term assets,” Cahyo said in a statement on Wednesday (29 July 2026).
According to him, the growth of the bullion business not only strengthens BSI’s position as the bank with a national sharia gold ecosystem, but also serves as an increasingly significant source of fee-based income growth for the company.
In total, outstanding gold pawning and gold instalments reached Rp30.5 trillion as of June 2026, representing growth of 80.50%. As of July 2026, the gold business had driven fee-based income to approximately Rp2.10 trillion, doubling compared with the same period last year.
