A junior high school student in Semarang, Central Java, has allegedly become a victim of bullying after being confined and assaulted by older pupils in a school toilet. The victim’s mother has revealed that her child is suffering from trauma and has not attended school for nearly three months following the incident. “My child has not been to school since 3 April, when this came to light. I want my child to return to school because it has been almost three months,” the mother said, weeping, when met by journalists at the Central Java Governor’s office, as reported by detikJateng on Thursday (25/6/2026). Results from counselling indicate the child is afraid upon seeing the school and the toilet where the alleged bullying by older pupils took place. “Counselling at the UPTD PPA showed that the child is afraid of the bathroom and the school, so the child is afraid to go to school. Just seeing the school triggers fear. The child has trauma,” she said. The bullying case has been reported to the police and has now entered the investigation phase. “The previous violence case was under inquiry. Now it has progressed to the investigation stage,” said the Head of the Women and Children Protection and PPO Unit at Semarang Metropolitan Police, Kompol Ni Made Sriniti, when contacted by detikJateng on Tuesday (23/6).
