Bulgaria Records Highest Fuel Price Surge in Europe as of June 2026

Fuel prices in Bulgaria recorded a surge of 26.1 per cent year-on-year in June 2026, placing the country as the nation with the highest fuel price increase in all of Europe. According to an analysis of the latest Eurostat data, Finland was in second place with a 23.9 per cent year-on-year increase, followed by Lithuania in third place with a 23.8 per cent surge. The significant increases in these countries cover various main types of fuel, from petrol and diesel to gas. The consumer-level price surge was triggered by soaring global crude oil prices, primarily due to the escalating conflict between Iran and the United States, which has been intensifying since February. Global market conditions came under further pressure after crude oil prices jumped more than 3 per cent in trading on Wednesday (22/7), with Brent crude breaching 94.09 US dollars per barrel.
