Bulfest 2026: Traffic Diversion Scheme in Singaraja from 18-23 August
The Buleleng Transportation Agency (Dishub) will implement traffic management during the Buleleng Festival (Bulfest) 2026 on 18-23 August. Several roads in central Singaraja will be diverted because one of the festival stages is located in the Catus Pata area.
Observations by detikBali on Tuesday (11/8/2026) showed that the stage in Zone C at Catus Pata Singaraja has begun to be installed, making it impassable for vehicles. Motorists passing near the location are asked to use the alternative routes that have been prepared. Meanwhile, traffic flow from Jalan Pahlawan to Jalan Ngurah Rai and vice versa can still be used.
Head of Buleleng Dishub Gede Gunawan AP explained that traffic diversion will be implemented gradually. Total closure of several roads will be applied during Bulfest.
“This is not a closure, but a diversion. Small vehicles are still allowed to enter. Total closure will be from the 18th to the 23rd,” said Gunawan on Tuesday (11/8/2026).
Several roads affected by the traffic management include Jalan Veteran, Jalan Pahlawan, and Jalan Ngurah Rai. Dishub has coordinated with the Buleleng Police Traffic Unit to prepare scenarios for managing the flow of public vehicles, VIPs, emergency vehicles, and evacuation access.
Vehicles from Denpasar heading west will be directed via Jalan Mayor Metra, Jalan Gajah Mada, Jalan Dr Sutomo, and then to Jalan Ahmad Yani.
Meanwhile, vehicles from Denpasar heading east will be directed via Jalan Mayor Metra, Jalan Gajah Mada, Jalan Setia Budi, Jalan Sam Ratulangi, and then Jalan WR Supratman.
From Karangasem heading west, motorists can take Jalan WR Supratman, Jalan Surapati, Jalan Hasanudin, Jalan Dr Sutomo, and then Jalan Ahmad Yani.
From Karangasem heading south, vehicles will be directed via Jalan WR Supratman, Jalan Sam Ratulangi, Jalan Setia Budi, Jalan Gempol, Jalan Gajah Mada, and then Jalan Mayor Metra.
For vehicles from Gilimanuk heading east, the alternative route prepared is Jalan Ahmad Yani, Jalan Dewi Sartika, Jalan Merak, Jalan Patimura, Jalan Erlangga, and then Jalan Surapati.
From Gilimanuk heading south, vehicles will be directed via Jalan Ahmad Yani, Jalan Sudirman, Jalan Udayana, Jalan Ngurah Rai, Jalan Letkol Wisnu, and then Jalan Gajah Mada.
Buleleng Dishub will deploy around 100 personnel at 10 intersections to manage traffic. Officers will also assist road users who need special access, including vehicles heading to hospitals and vehicles in emergency conditions.
For large vehicles such as lorries and buses, operations are still permitted. However, these vehicles will be directed to use the designated alternative routes. For example, large vehicles heading west will be directed via Jalan Dr Sutomo to Jalan Ahmad Yani.
Assistant I of the Buleleng Regional Secretariat Putu Ariadi Pribadi said preparations for Bulfest 2026 have now reached around 95 percent. “Seven days before the opening, preparations are approximately 95 percent ready,” said Ariadi.
Bulfest 2026 is divided into three zones with different concepts. Zone A adopts a nostalgic concept depicting the atmosphere of old Singaraja. This zone is located on Jalan Ngurah Rai, starting from the front of the Singa Ambara Raja Monument heading north.
Zone A also highlights the Sunda Kecil identity related to Singaraja’s historical journey. One access to the zone will be marked with a gate in front of Bank Sinarmas.
Zone B is located in the Buleleng DPRD building area up to the green open space (RTH) of the Buleleng Regent’s official residence. This zone adopts a modern and creative concept.
Meanwhile, Zone C is located in the Catus Pata area. This zone is designated for arts and cultural performances such as wayang, bondres, and gamelan.
Catus Pata was chosen as the stage location because it is considered more open compared to Sasana Budaya, which was used in previous Bulfest events. However, the use of the area as a stage location affects traffic access around it, necessitating traffic management.
Members of the public passing through central Singaraja during Bulfest are urged to follow traffic signs and the directions of officers on the ground. Motorists are also asked to choose the alternative routes that have been prepared so that journeys remain smooth during the festival.
