Buleleng Government Disburses IDR 3.6 Billion to 30 Subak for Irrigation Infrastructure
The Buleleng Regency Government has disbursed agricultural infrastructure assistance worth more than IDR 3.6 billion to 30 subak in the Gumi Panji Sakti area. The funds, sourced from the national budget (APBN), are focused on strengthening irrigation infrastructure to maintain agricultural productivity and regional food security.
Bupati Buleleng I Nyoman Sutjidra stated that the agricultural sector is a development priority for Buleleng. He noted that the regency administration is also rolling out various supporting programmes, including incentives for subak, rehabilitation and revitalisation of irrigation networks, and the construction of farm roads.
“If all government support for the agricultural sector is combined, both from central and regional levels, the value reaches tens of billions of rupiah. This is a form of the government’s commitment to improving farmers’ welfare and maintaining food security,” Sutjidra said during the handover ceremony at the Bupati’s official residence on Wednesday.
Sutjidra added that the Buleleng administration is pushing for the exemption of land and building tax for rice fields designated as sustainable food agricultural land. He said this is being pursued through synergy with the Bali Provincial Government.
Gede Melandrat, Head of the Agriculture, Food Security, and Fisheries Agency of Buleleng, explained that the second phase of assistance is prioritised for the construction and repair of irrigation infrastructure. He said the aid is provided to 30 subak within sustainable food agricultural land areas to maintain the total area of rice fields while supporting the national programme for sustainable food land.
“The assistance includes the construction of irrigation networks, drainage, small dams, and boreholes in areas experiencing a decline in water discharge,” Melandrat said.
The Buleleng Regency Government hopes that strengthening agricultural infrastructure will increase land productivity, guarantee water availability for rice fields, and boost farmers’ welfare. The programme is also expected to reinforce long-term food security.
