Buleleng Government Allocates Rp 5 Billion for Diponegoro Street Revitalisation

The Buleleng Regency Government (Pemkab Buleleng) has allocated a budget of approximately Rp 5 billion to revitalise the Jalan Diponegoro area in Singaraja. The historic district is set to be transformed into a culinary centre featuring local Buleleng cuisine.

Buleleng Regent I Nyoman Sutjidra stated that the development is part of the broader Singaraja Zero Point area revitalisation plan. “The budget is around Rp 5 billion. It is not too large, but we are organising it first so that it looks neat. Once it is tidy and clean, like in Lovina, there will be many visitors. People will be able to walk from there to the port,” Sutjidra said on Thursday.

Sutjidra explained that the concept for the Jalan Diponegoro arrangement is similar to the Singaraja Zero Point area, focusing on providing comfortable, clean, and attractive pedestrian facilities. The local government also plans to turn the area into a hub for local culinary delights.

“We will dedicate it specifically to typical Buleleng cuisine, like a night market. With wide pedestrian paths and improved sanitation, it will no longer be smelly or look slum-like,” Sutjidra added. He also noted that the area would serve as a gathering space for local communities.
