PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) is targeting coal production of 49.5 million tonnes in 2026. This target was set after the company’s Work Plan and Budget (RKAB) was approved by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources without any volume cuts.

“The RKAB has been approved without any reduction in volume. We are targeting production and sales of around 49.5 million tonnes and hope to reach 50 million tonnes,” said PTBA’s President Director Arsal Ismail during a press conference at the Westin Hotel, South Jakarta, on Monday, 6 April 2026.

With this certainty, Arsal is optimistic that the company will continue to prioritise principles of prudence in operations, including the application of good mining practices to ensure business sustainability.

On the financial performance side, PTBA recorded a net profit of Rp2.93 trillion for the whole of 2025, down 42.5% from Rp5.10 trillion in 2024. This decline was triggered by the weakening of global coal prices.

Nevertheless, Arsal said, the company’s operational performance still showed growth. Coal production increased by 9% to 47.2 million tonnes, while sales volume rose 6% to 45.4 million tonnes.

This increase also drove coal transportation volume, which grew 6% from 38.2 million tonnes to 40.4 million tonnes.
