PT Bukit Asam (Persero) Tbk sold 21.10 million tonnes of coal during the first half of 2026. These sales were supported by production of 19.45 million tonnes, with the remainder drawn from reserve stockpiles.

Bukit Asam President Director Bambang Ismawan stated that the achievement reflects the company’s ability to maintain production and coal supply to customers. "This achievement serves as an important foundation for the company to continue creating added value for all stakeholders," Bambang said in a written statement on Friday, July 24, 2026.

Up to the first half of 2026, domestic sales reached 10.77 million tonnes, representing 51 percent of total sales. Export sales amounted to 10.33 million tonnes, or 49 percent. Bambang noted that export volume increased by approximately 5 percent compared to the same period last year, driven by demand from Vietnam, Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, and Thailand.

Despite this, Bambang emphasised that the domestic market remains the company’s priority, particularly to support national energy security. Sales to the PLN Group reached 7.78 million tonnes up to the first half of 2026. Overall, the realisation of sales to fulfil the Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) reached approximately 55 percent of total production, well above the government’s minimum requirement of 25 percent.

On the logistics front, Bukit Asam, also known as PTBA, transported 18.15 million tonnes of coal up to June 2026. Of this total, 17.47 million tonnes were transported by rail. The company is also implementing selective mining to maintain mining efficiency. As of the first half of 2026, PTBA recorded a stripping ratio of 5.26 times, which remains below the annual target of 5.63 times.

To support operations, PTBA is continuing capital expenditure focused on developing logistics infrastructure, including the Tanjung Enim–Kramasan coal transport project and the construction of an Inpit Conveyor at Banko. "Entering the second half of 2026, PTBA will continue to strengthen operational reliability, maintain cost efficiency, optimise both domestic and export markets, and proceed with various strategic projects to support the company’s sustainable growth amidst the dynamics of the global coal industry," Bambang said.
