Building Youth Resilience Against Drugs Deemed Important, BNN Explains Why
The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) has collaborated with Pelindo to strengthen drug abuse prevention among the younger generation through the programme “Sobat Ananda Bersinar: Merdeka Tanpa Narkoba” (Shining Beloved Friends: Independent Without Drugs).
The programme reaches approximately 900 students across nine schools in Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan, and Makassar.
In Jakarta, one of the activities was held at SMA Negeri 18 North Jakarta, located in the Tanjung Priok area and within ring 1 of Pelindo’s operational territory.
Through the programme, students are equipped with knowledge about the dangers of drugs, risk factors for abuse, and the importance of building a healthy social environment.
Director of Advocacy at BNN RI, Tatiek Sufahriani, stressed that building youth resilience against drugs is an important investment for Indonesia’s future.
“Today we are building the generation that will determine the nation’s future. Therefore, building a generation that is healthy, productive, and able to protect itself from various negative influences is a very important investment,” said Tatiek in her statement on Thursday, 27 August 2026.
Meanwhile, Pelindo’s Group Head of Corporate Sustainability, Usman Saroni, said the company’s attention to port areas is not limited to infrastructure and operational aspects, but also encompasses the communities that live and grow around them.
“For Pelindo, safeguarding the port is not only about security and smooth operations, but also about helping to ensure that the young generation growing up around it has a healthy future and is protected from the threat of drugs. Therefore, we are taking preventive steps by being present directly in schools, particularly in areas closest to our operational territory,” said Usman.
According to Usman, collaboration with BNN is important because preventing drug abuse requires the involvement of various parties. BNN’s competence in prevention and education is combined with Pelindo’s closeness to communities around the company’s operational areas.
“Through this collaboration, we want to build awareness from an early age while encouraging the courage of the younger generation to recognise risks and say no to drugs. This is part of Pelindo’s contribution to protecting the environment while preparing the nation’s next generation to be healthy and competitive,” Usman continued.
