Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Jakarta Sub-department of Public Works, Spatial Planning and Land Affairs (CKTRP) has again sealed a building violating permit regulations in the Gambir area after construction activity was still found to be taking place despite previously being subject to a work-stoppage sanction.

The six-storey building is located on Jalan Saluran PHB Petojo Selatan, Petojo Utara Urban Village, Gambir. Head of the Central Jakarta CKTRP Sub-department, Yunita Indrasti, said the re-sealing was carried out as a follow-up to ongoing construction activity at the site.

“This morning the team carried out the re-sealing at around 09.00 Western Indonesia Time,” Yunita said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to Yunita, the action represents the fifth law enforcement measure taken against the building for violating permit regulations.

The building had previously been sanctioned with activity restrictions on 11 February 2026 for breaching building permit requirements.

Under its permit, the building was only allowed to have four floors, but on the ground it was built to six storeys plus a rooftop.

At that time, the Central Jakarta CKTRP Sub-department placed seals and padlocks on the building and ordered all workers to halt construction activity.

Meanwhile, Head of the Building Section of the Central Jakarta CKTRP Sub-department, Sandra Alexandra, had previously also affirmed that no construction activity may take place whilst the government’s seals and padlocks remain in place.

“As long as our padlock remains in place, no construction activity is permitted. If there is, the threat is criminal prosecution,” Sandra said.
