Building Digital Security Awareness: 420 Students Participate in Telkom's CyberHeroes Programme
PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) through its CyberHeroes digital education programme has equipped 420 students from various schools in Indonesia to improve their understanding of cyber security. The programme aims to help the younger generation understand risks in the digital space while building safe, wise, and responsible internet behaviour.
Through CyberHeroes, held in early April 2026, Telkom provided practical learning to students on digital security, from recognising potential cyberbullying, risks of manipulation by unknown parties, to the importance of protecting personal data when interacting online.
The CyberHeroes initiative is driven by the increasing digital security challenges among children and adolescents.
UNICEF data from 2025 records that nearly 80 per cent of Indonesia’s population has accessed the internet, with young people spending an average of 5.4 hours per day in the digital space. However, this high intensity is not yet fully matched by adequate security literacy.
Data from the Ministry of Communication and Digital in 2026 shows that 50 per cent of Indonesian children have been exposed to inappropriate content on social media, while 42 per cent others have experienced discomfort in digital activities.
Telkom’s Social Responsibility Manager, Hery Susanto, explained that early education is key to building a healthy digital ecosystem. Telkom is committed to providing safe and inclusive technology utilisation for all society.
“Through CyberHeroes, we want to instil awareness of the importance of protecting personal data and behaving wisely in the digital space from an early age. With the spirit of Bersama Jadi Bisa, we believe every Indonesian child can also be PandAI in utilising technology safely and supporting their growth and development,” he stated in a comment on Friday (17/4/2026).
The activity was conducted in a hybrid format and attended by several schools, namely SMP Warga Surakarta with 200 students online, SLB B Pangudi Luhur West Jakarta with 100 students, and SDN Blimbing 1 and SDN Blimbing 3 Tangerang each attended by 60 students.
The learning materials were delivered interactively and easily understood so that participants could immediately apply the knowledge in their daily digital activities.
Embracing the spirit of Bersama Jadi Bisa, the programme also emphasises inclusivity by involving students from various backgrounds, including those with disabilities.
Telkom encourages every individual to have equal opportunities to understand and utilise technology responsibly and productively.
School representatives also appreciated Telkom’s steps in equipping students with basic skills in maintaining security and ethics in digital interactions through this programme.
“The materials provided are very relevant to students’ current needs, especially in understanding the risks of interacting in the digital world. This helps students become more alert and wise,” said Lince Saragih, ICT Teacher at SLB B Pangudi Luhur.
More than just education, the CyberHeroes programme is part of Telkom’s ongoing efforts to build a healthy and responsible digital ecosystem.
Through strengthening digital literacy from an early age, Telkom hopes to minimise cybercrime risks while encouraging the emergence of an adaptive and responsible young generation in the digital era.
In line with its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) commitment, particularly in the education pillar, this initiative also supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially goal number 4 on quality education.
Through this initiative, Telkom further strengthens the role of TJSL in promoting more equitable and sustainable digital education access.
