Capitalising on the holy month of Ramadan 1447 H, Akulaku Group strengthened collaboration with the National Zakat Distribution Board (BAZNAS RI) through a series of corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes. One of the main agendas was providing practical skills training for wards at the Class II Child Development Institution (LPKA) Jakarta on Friday, 13 March.

The collaboration aimed to equip teenagers with self-reliance through screen-printing training whilst channelling food assistance as a form of social care.

Edy Salim, Information Technology Director of PT Akulaku Finance Indonesia, affirmed that this initiative was part of the company’s sustained commitment to creating tangible impact for communities.

“Ramadan is an opportunity to strengthen care and share with others. Through collaboration with BAZNAS RI, the assistance distributed is expected to reach the right targets and provide real benefits to communities,” stated Edy.

Similarly, Saidah Sakwan, Head of BAZNAS RI’s Distribution and Empowerment Division, explained that this year’s programme was deliberately designed not only to be consumptive but also to have long-term empowerment value.

“Through this programme, we want to bring Ramadan joy whilst providing useful skills for their future,” said Saidah.

Social and Educational Synergy

Beyond skills training, the activity also included the Blessed Ramadan Meals programme. Ajat Sudrajat, Head of BAZNAS RI’s Empowerment Division, UPZ Services and CSR, detailed that assistance covered basic break-fast needs.

“Today we are implementing the Blessed Ramadan Meals programme in the form of distributing break-fast meals, from light snacks to main meals for the child wards,” explained Ajat.

High appreciation came from institutional authorities. Syaikoni, Head of LPKA Class II Jakarta, valued attention from the private sector and zakat institutions as meaningful for the rehabilitation process of child wards.

“We are very grateful to BAZNAS RI and Akulaku Group for the support and attention given to the child wards at LPKA Jakarta,” he said.

Participant Enthusiasm

Direct benefits were felt by participants. Rapo, 16, one of the child wards, said he gained new insights into printing techniques that could become business opportunities in the future.

“I am very pleased to participate in this event because we could learn screen-printing and understand the differences between digital and manual screen-printing. Thank you to BAZNAS and Akulaku Group for coming and sharing with us,” he said enthusiastically.

Through this step, Akulaku Group committed to continuing to present social initiatives that provide sustainable impact, particularly in welfare and community empowerment aspects.
