Jakarta (ANTARA) – Budiman Sudjatmiko, head of the Agency for the Acceleration of Poverty Eradication (BP Taskin), said President Prabowo Subianto has five pillars of commitment for his first two years in office.

Prabowo has the Astacita programme, which is already familiar to the public, Budiman said. However, the five pillars of commitment make Prabowo very different from previous leaders.

“We must also be ready to stop judging a figure merely by their appearance or gestures. What matters is their ideas,” Budiman said at the National Dialogue: A Reflection on Two Years of President Prabowo Subianto’s Government, organised by Gerakan Cinta Prabowo in Jakarta on Thursday.

He explained that the first pillar is Prabowo’s desire to ensure Indonesia has a presence and is respected on the global stage.

Indonesia’s participation in BRICS is a new step taken by the President, Budiman said.

“Indonesia must be visible and on the global radar. A nation as large as this must be on the global radar,” he said.

The second pillar is Prabowo’s desire for national unity, pursued by continuing development across the administrations of Indonesia’s first through seventh presidents.

Prabowo also wants to maintain unity among the country’s political elites, foster ties among national figures, and strengthen central-local government coordination.

“For Indonesia to be respected globally, its people and its elites must be united,” Budiman said.

The third pillar is Prabowo’s aim to eradicate poverty in Indonesia.

Budiman said Prabowo had increased assistance to the public while reducing benefits to elite groups.

The fourth pillar is opposition to ignorance. Budiman said unity based on the willingness of people to work together and be treated fairly could be sustained if citizens, children and the wider public were well educated.

The fifth and final pillar is preventing leakage. Budiman said this referred to state losses caused by waste and corruption.

“Mr Prabowo’s way of thinking has long been part of Indonesia’s tradition. In fact, it is not unfamiliar among the founders of the Republic,” he said.
