Budiawansyah Resigns from Vale Indonesia (INCO) Board of Directors

PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (INCO) has announced the resignation of one of its board members. According to a disclosure to the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), Budiawansyah has stepped down from his position as Director and Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer of the company. Management received the resignation letter on 20 August 2026.

“On 20 August 2026, PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (the Company) received a resignation letter from Mr Budiawansyah from his position as Director and Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer of the Company,” management wrote on Friday (21/8/2026).

The resignation was stated to be a personal decision related to family considerations. The company will subsequently submit the resignation request for approval at the upcoming General Meeting of Shareholders (RUPS), in accordance with applicable regulations.

Management also confirmed that Budiawansyah’s resignation will not have a detrimental impact on the company’s operational activities, legal condition, finances, or business continuity.

Prior to his resignation, Budiawansyah had served as a Director of the company for the period July 2025–2028. The 47-year-old earned a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, and later pursued a Master’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety at the University of Indonesia. This academic background aligns with a career path that has frequently intersected with occupational safety and environmental aspects in the mining industry.

Budiawansyah began his career as a Process Quality Engineer at PT Digitone Indonesia from 2002 to 2004, before joining PT Vale and spending more than two decades building his career at the company. He started at PT Vale as a Senior Process Engineer from 2004 to 2010, then rose to General Manager of Operation & Maintenance Improvement from 2011 to 2013.

He was subsequently appointed Deputy Head of Mining Engineering, concurrently serving as General Manager of Health, Safety & Emergency Response from 2013 to 2018, before being promoted again to Head of Mining Engineering – Head of Health, Safety, Environment & Operational Risk from 2018 to 2020.

His career then expanded to the regional level when he served as Head of Mining Engineering – Health, Safety, Environment & Operational Risk for Vale’s Asia Pacific (APAC) region from 2020 to 2021. Thereafter, his focus shifted to permitting and institutional relations, marked by his position as Head of Strategic Permit and General Affairs from 2021 to 2024, and most recently as Head of Institutional Relation & Permits from 2024 to 2025.
