Budiarsa Sastrawinata was elected unanimously as chairman of the Indonesian Golf Course Owners Association (APLGI) for the 2026-2030 term during the National Members General Meeting (Ruanas) held at Damai Indah Golf Course in BSD City, Banten, last Monday (18 May).

Budiarsa previously served as APLGI’s First Chairman under M Tachril Sapi’ie, who led the association for two terms from 2018-2022 and 2022-2026. He stated that golf course owners are passionate about the sport and will support efforts to enhance competitive achievements.

“We are grateful to Mr Tachril for steering APLGI for eight years. We have achieved many successes, which we will continue. Promoting golf as a sport will be APLGI’s top priority moving forward,” Budiarsa said.

“Additionally, we must elevate the standard of golf to enable Indonesia to compete internationally. Golf course owners play a crucial role in supporting our athletes to improve their game,” added the man, who is also a director at PT Ciputra Development Tbk and President Director of PT Damai Indah Golf Tbk.

Budiarsa has been actively involved in supporting Indonesian golf achievements. He is also a co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Ciputra Golfpreneur Foundation (CGF), which has organised prestigious tournaments for decades, including the Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World Championship (CGJWC) and the professional Ciputra Golfpreneur Tournament, part of the Asian Development Tour (ADT) calendar.

At the Ruanas, the committee adopted the theme “New Management, New Spirit”. During Tachril’s tenure, APLGI undertook numerous initiatives to promote golf across Indonesian society. A key programme was the inaugural Indonesia Golf Festival 2025, which is scheduled to return in October 2026.

“I chose this theme to ensure the new leadership brings fresh momentum, particularly in improving and growing the golf industry we all cherish,” Tachril said.

Alongside electing a new chairman, members also formulated proposals and work plans for the 2026-2030 term.

APLGI was established on 19 July 1995. The association comprises 58 member golf courses across Indonesia. It was formed to provide a professional platform for members to enhance the quality of golf course construction, maintenance, and management.

The association also serves as a forum for sharing experiences and knowledge, particularly to help resolve common challenges faced by member golf courses.
